FAQ's

Q: Is WCC a contractor that actually performs the work?
A: No, WCC is a consulting company that has years of experience with the evaluation of installed systems. Our experience with field work, combined with our technical experience is what sets us apart from the contractor. Our mission is to provide the best possible solution to a problem.

Q: What can I expect from WCC if they are hired?
A: As with most jobs it depends on the project. Normally, should a job undergo its normal cycle, WCC will perform all functions of a project while allowing you to be involved in the decision making process. Our function is to act on your behalf as an intermediary between owner and contractor. We offer our clients an unbiased opinion. This buffer allows decisions to be made with little concern over agendas or hidden profit.

Q: How can your company help me with my project?
A: Again it depends on the job, but normally we will perform a much needed function that most contractor's are too busy to perform. We will perform all of the needed background investigation work for your property. Whatever information we can obtain will be weighed against current industry methods/standards and all manufacturer's printed literature. Then we will approach each job from a common sense point of view to determine any and all ways to save money while achieving the desired result for the project. We can and do save our clients money.

Q: Why do I need to have a specification for my particular project?
A: Considering that all things are equal and fair, the largest conflict between owner and contractor is that the expectations of the owner may outweigh the expenditure that they are willing to spend. Consequently, the actual expectations of the contractor can, and are, usually below the expectations of the owner. Having a specification written and included as part of the contract protects and legitimizes both parties expectations. A specification is the agreement of the materials and steps to complete the project.

Q: What is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC)?
A:
Registered Roof Consultants (RRCs) have earned distinction among their peers. They have proved themselves ethically sound and professionally competent by a written exam through the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI), character reference, and documented experience.

Q: What is Construction Monititoring and how will I benefit from it on my project?
A: Construction monitoring is an important step in the project life cycle. This step is where a technician is placed in the field to verify that the specification is being followed, and that industry and manufacturer standards are being followed. The Field Technician documents the phases of work and supplies the consultant, owner, and believe it or not, the contractor with much needed unbiased feedback that would otherwise be unavailable.

Q: What is a Roofing Test Cut?
A: A test cut can be performed on any roof system to verify the condition of the components and substrate. However, test cuts in general are performed mostly on Built-Up Roof (BUR) systems to verify that the roof has been adequately installed. ASTM D-3617 is the method most widely used during the construction process; however, samples with the surfacing installed are taken and tested to verify adequate surfacing quantities and adhesion.
